about

Before there was language, before there were tools, before there was even fire there was music and more specifically the song. I have a belief that humans first became human when one of them was tired, scared, and hungry in the forest, probably cold, probably in the dark and totally freaked out. Out of this existential dread that first person uttered a sound into the cosmos that carried his or her pain and understanding of pain, and understanding that they were understanding and feeling something that was more than just survival. It was human consciousness.

Songs have become that lifeline for me and I have been collecting them for years, turning to them in crisis, or the dark, as a guide, a connection, a reminder that being human is what we all share and the very core of our being. This collection represents just a handful of the many that have served me in this way, recorded at various points over the last 15 years alone, in a room, singing into the dark.

He writes, sings, plays all the instruments, engineers, mixes and produces records by the sea in his hometown of Stony Brook, NY. ... more
